Global Style: Travel to the Far East with Asian-Inspired Accessories

The Spring 2013 runways were chockablock full of Asian references, from wide sashes to oriental prints found at Etro, Prada, and Emilio Pucci. Bring a little taste of Tokyo into your wardrobe with an Obi belt, the wider the better and preferably in leather for a sexy Alaia/ Helmut Newton look. I’ve always had a thing for Japanese kimono fabrics, and my good friend’s new line of scarves and ties, Kiriko, is sourced from vintage kimonos and come in a variety of colors and patterns, while for kimono-style robes I’m loving anything silky and slouchy. When I’m home I can never resist popping into Shirokiya, a Japanese department store in Honolulu, for its great selection of home accessories (not to mention an awesome happy hour at the Yataimura beer garden!), but otherwise Pearl River always has beautiful lanterns and ceramic bowls for purchase online.
