In April I was lucky enough to fly to Kona – not once but twice – to scout and shoot on the lava fields and black sand beaches of the Big Island. Kona’s terrain can be unforgiving: miles and miles of razor-sharp blackened ground, radiating unrelenting heat, that lead to a coastline buried in a thicket of thorny kiawe trees. In the past, it was not my favorite of Hawaii destinations, but I’ve come to appreciate its hidden beauty. Plus the day shooting Kona-native and charmer Paloma Field in the latest swim fashions could not have been more of a breeze. Here are some of my favorite outtakes from the shoot, now featured in HILuxury’s latest issue.
I’d love to share one of my latest shoots, now featured on The Edit Hawaii. Take one visiting Aussie babe, one (semi) quiet shore at sunset, and a bag full of sheer and sexy neutral colored beach essentials and you’ve got yourself castaway magic. It’s a corner of Oahu I see almost every day but never fails to be spectacular. Special thanks to model Alex Kate Knight, a blogger in her own right, for being such a pro and game for anything after a long week of shooting another job!
It’s officially been 6 months since my last post and I have no excuse except for a busy summer. Eek! With the rains and cool weather on the way, I’ll give you a little summer reboot with a series I did during the never-ending heat wave that engulfed Hawaii all summer. Shot at my favorite spots on the way to the North Shore – from Chinaman’s Hat to Pupukea – we were blue crushing it all day in retro 70s surf attire. Now featured on The Edit Hawaii.
Isn’t anyone else tired of gray jeans- leather jacket – combat boot combo so loved by New Yorkers? Today my outfit insisted it was summer, while the weather said otherwise. Despite knowing there was 100% chance of rain (and wearing ballet flats anyway: bad move), I powered forth with my vision and rocked a hot pink silk blouse with a red blazer and aqua belt. I was inspired by the newest Zara collection: a much needed color-saturated respite from the black and gray NYC streets. This brand was a favorite of mine when living in Sevilla, and I rediscovered why I loved them with their spring/summer collection of bright colbalts, fuschias, and emeralds. I want it all, all, ALL! A few of my favorites:
