It’s officially been 6 months since my last post and I have no excuse except for a busy summer. Eek! With the rains and cool weather on the way, I’ll give you a little summer reboot with a series I did during the never-ending heat wave that engulfed Hawaii all summer. Shot at my favorite spots on the way to the North Shore – from Chinaman’s Hat to Pupukea – we were blue crushing it all day in retro 70s surf attire. Now featured on The Edit Hawaii.
Last week my best friend got hitched here in Hawai’i, but it wasn’t your typical Hawaiian wedding. Any of you familiar with the islands will know that part of their charm is that they are home to many different microclimates and can be made to look like almost any part of the world (hello, Lost). Even friends from Oahu didn’t know this location existed – up in Pupukea, the hills above Sunset Beach on the North Shore. Since I was a bridesmaid I didn’t get to take photos on the day of, but I managed to get some shots of the culmination of 6 months of work “prepping” the forest. As is only appropriate, even this location could not outshine the beautiful bride!
(For any of you interested, the groom’s family owns this Utopium Estate, which is available for rent and hosts art retreats and workshops.)
